Angelina Jolie was raised by her mother in Palisades, New York. She began to study acting when she was eleven at the Lee Strasburg Theater Institute. She joined the Met Theatre Group in Los Angeles and appeared in five student films directed by her brother, James Haven Voight. Her first feature film debut was a part in "Lookin To Get Out", a film co written and co produced by her father.
